Why the signature matters more than the paperwork
A delivery note proves what arrived and that somebody accepted it. Without a signature you are relying on memory when a customer says half of it never turned up, and you are usually the one who loses that argument.
What it should carry
Who it is from and who it is going to, a unique number, the date, exactly what is in the delivery with quantities, and a space for a name, signature and date on receipt. Prices are deliberately left off a delivery note.
Common questions
Should a delivery note show prices?
Usually not. It records what was delivered, not what it costs. That is what the invoice is for, and leaving prices off avoids awkwardness when the note is signed by somebody on site.
Do I need to keep a copy?
Keep the signed one. It is the evidence if a delivery is later disputed.
Is anything sent to you?
No. It runs entirely in your browser and the PDF is made on your machine.
